Overlanding rigs are awesome, but there are plenty of drawbacks to registering one under your name. Buying and properly outfitting them can be expensive; owning them can be a hassle, especially in an urban setting; and daily-driving them isn’t great for that environment you bought it to experience.
Denver-based Titus Adventure Company is aiming to resolve this problem by becoming, effectively, the Uber of Overlanding. Titus provides a kitted-out overlander for when you need to get away, but allows you to go back to your simple, off-roader-free life when you return.
TAC has a fleet of three Toyotas — a 2019 Tacoma, a 2019 4Runner and a 2019 Sequoia — all of which have been set up for overlanding. The Tacoma and 4Runner cost $185 per night, while the larger Sequoia costs $210 a night. You order the vehicle by phone, and TAC delivers it to any home, office or airport in Colorado. They even take care of the cleanup when you get back.
Currently, TAC offers its vehicles with a Water Sport package and a new Winter package, the latter of which includes a Yakima Ski Rack or Sky Box, among other features. There are plans for adding Hunting, Fishing, and Camping packages as well. All packages include unlimited miles and a Colorado State Parks pass.
TAC also will assuage any guilt about your trip’s carbon footprint. The company says they “completely offset” the emissions from your trip, and they also donate $10 to local trail building and conservation projects for every night purchased.
