Colorado-based EarthRoamer is one of the preeminent manufacturers of high-end overlanding-capable recreation vehicles. The company’s previous builds have been, to put it simply, spectacular. But the company’s latest, the EarthRoamer LTi, takes matters a step further by using a carbon fiber monocoque for the camper body.
EarthRomer builds the carbon-fiber bodies in-house, using what they describe as a “vacuum infusion process.” This process makes the camper shell stronger and lighter, shedding about 1,000 pounds versus the similar EarthRoamer LTS. The base truck for the LTi is a four-wheel-drive Ford F-550 Super Duty, with a 6.7-liter turbo diesel engine putting out 750 lb-ft of torque.
Built for four-season, all-weather functionality, the LTi is ready to leave the grid far behind. It can hold 95 gallons of fuel and up to 100 gallons of fresh water. It features a 1,300-watt solar power array and 11,000-watt-hour lithium-ion batteries. Buyers can choose between five different floor plans that sleep up to four passengers.
As you might anticipate, using technology from high-end sports cars to build an RV makes it rather pricey. The starting price for an EarthRoamer LTi is $590,000, but most build-outs will cost between $650,000 and $700,000. That’s the sort of price that makes dropping $90,000 on a Ford Econoline 4×4 camper van feel downright reasonable.
Still, if you really want an LTi, you’ll have to wait a bit anyway. EarthRoamer currently has an eight-month waiting list. Securing a place requires a $50,000 deposit.
