Both the first and second generation Merc CLS sedans are stunning. How do you improve on the looks? Go family style with the new Mercedes-Benz Shooting Brake, which is Eurospeak for station wagon. But this isn’t some Teutonic Family Truckster. With rakishly good looks that it inherits from the four door in the kind of wagon style you’d be happy to take the grocery store, the CLS Shooting Brake comes in four flavors — a 3.5 liter V6 with 306 horsepower (CLS350), a 408 horsepower twin-turbo 4.6 liter V8 (CLS500), and two diesel options, a 2.1 liter 4-cylinder (CLS350 CDI) and a 3.0 liter V6 (CLS350 CDI). We especially love the wooden load compartment floor with aluminum rails, so you can gingerly slide your bespoke luggage inside without scuffing the finish. Power tailgate and the automatic adjustable air suspension ensure that your cargo is loaded seamlessly. The bad part? It’s not coming to the states. We chunkers get the bloated R-Class. Pffft.
