We covered the handsome 2012 Hyundai Veloster at the beginning of last year. And though we are fans of the aggressive hot hatch look, this hatch has been less than hot in the performance department. Well, Hyundai listened and has just revealed the 2013 Veloster Turbo. Even though it’s a mere 1.6 liter displacement engine, the twin scroll turbocharging pumps the South Korean 3-door to 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. All this and 38 mpg highway. Not bad at all.
The grille has been updated to reflect the current design language, LED accented headlights have been added and 18 inch wheels come standard. Our two favorite add ons are the sweet matte gray paint job and the free-flow exhaust that provides a more sonorous tone from the Veloster’s back end. The cabin sets the car apart from its lesser brother, as well — twin TFT screens, graphite black and blue trimmed interior, and leather seats with heated fronts. For this price point ($21,950), we think it’s a steal. We only have one small wish. Rear wheel drive.
