Australia’s Patriot Campers has unveiled a “Desert Ops” edition of its X1-N camping trailer. The special edition adds some sweet 1970s-esque style to the standard X1, with sandy taupe paint and vinyl decals. Patriot Campers is selling a limited run of 20 Desert Ops X1-Ns. They are available in the U.S. for $31,990, a $1,000 premium over the standard X1-N.

Patriot Campers offers one of the best all-around trailers for overlanders. Besides excellent build quality, the X1-N is great for two main reasons. One is efficiency: The X1-N crams a ton of functionality and storage compartments into a small (6-foot-by-12-foot) footprint that will fit inside a standard garage. It has, among other features, a 40-gallon water tank with a gas heating system, a sink, a shower, a twin burner stove, and a power supply. It can be optioned with a fridge and a barbecue grill.

The reason it’s great: the versatility provided by Patriot’s X-Rack mounting system. Customers can opt for one of Patriot’s integrated tent systems or provide their own. The rack can also hold mountain bikes, kayaks, and an array of other desired outdoors equipment. All told, the X1 can offer the ideal camping setup to suit the entire family — or one man with a lot of gear and exacting culinary requirements.
