SEMA is auctioning five Jeep Wranglers at no reserve on Bring a Trailer to benefit its SEMA High School Vehicle Build Program. The program works with auto shop classes to build customized and tricked out vehicles using donated aftermarket parts. SEMA reinvests proceeds into the program to buy cars for future build projects.
This modded Wrangler was built by the program at Comstock High School, just outside of Kalamazoo, MI. It’s a 2004 TJ Sahara with a 4.0-liter inline-six and a five-speed manual. It has 137,000 miles. Students gave it a full-body repaint and a four-inch suspension lift. It has been fitted with $15,000 worth of aftermarket accessories. It comes with a hardtop and a Bestop bikini soft top.
If you’re into Michigan pride, the Wrangler has “Great Lakes Edition” badging on the body and seats. A third-party repair shop inspected the students’s work on the Wrangler for safety. The Jeep also has new brakes, an oil change, and topped up fluids. The bidding, as of this writing, is still under $20,000.
SEMA also includes an optional travel package. This package would allow the auction winner to display the vehicle at the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and attend the event with roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations and admission included. SEMA accepts contributions for the High School Vehicle Build Program on its website, though they are not tax-deductible.
