The latest VW Beetle is a winner in our book, so we were pumped to see the ultra-cool Volkswagen E-Bugster Concept in Detroit this week. Designed as a tantalizing package for their Blue-e-motion engine, the E-Bugster should be good for 100 miles thanks to its lithium-ion battery and can take a quick 80% charge in as little as 30 minutes. Though it’s good for a mere 114 horsepower, it will boast nearly 200 lb feet of torque, which is no laughing matter for one so eco-conscious. The clean exterior, chop top, reworked front and rear, LED day-running lights and new environmentally oriented instrument binnacle make this bug even more attractive than its gas-driven brother. Let’s hope VW brings this looker to production in the not-too-distant future. If this is the trend for electric vehicles, we say “bring it.”
