We’re expecting to see the Ford Bronco at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in January. We already have a pretty good idea of what it’ll look like and what might be powering it. We know Ford benchmarked it against the Jeep Wrangler, meaning the next-generation Bronco will know its way around a dirt trail or two. But, one thing we have absolutely no clue about is what colors will be available for the new 4×4. If Ford is smart, it’ll expand its current palette and include paint options like the beautiful Cinnamon Metallic coating this ’72 Bronco.
Ford trucks and SUVs look damn pretty in red, but wander through Ford’s configurator and you’ll need two hands to count the shades of grey on offer. Hopefully, the Bronco doesn’t fall victim to the same drab paint. The Bronco is fixing to be a fun and exciting truck in the same vein as the Raptor and outward appearances count for a lot. To be fair, Ford does offer fun colors on its smaller cars and hatchbacks. Outrageous Green and Hot Pepper Red, offered on the Focus and Fiesta, and the Mustang’s Orange Fury and Need for Green colors should be a baseline for the Bronco.
Based on the ups and downs this project has gone through it’s entirely possible Ford will phone it in when it comes to the paint choices. On the other hand, they might really embrace the spirit of the Bronco, knock it out of the park and rival Jeep Wrangler colors, or even the Porsche 911’s. A classic two-toned paint scheme like the original Bronco wouldn’t be unwelcome either, so long as those two tones aren’t slightly different shades of dull.
