Thre isn’t a better movie car. Not the Batmobile, not the Bullitt Mustang, not Doc’s Delorean. The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 outranks them all because it’s more beautiful, more desirable and now more real than all the rest. From its debut in Goldfinger to its chase sequence in Goldeneye to its destruction in Skyfall, the DB5 has been inseparable from the world’s greatest secret agent. And now, if you’re unashamedly rich, you too can own a DB5, made lovingly by Aston Martin, replete with most of Q Branch’s original gadgets – with some glaring caveats.

• First, the obvious: each “continuation” car (meaning old cars are being made reproduced almost exactly as the originals, with few modern upgrades) will cost £2.75 million, or just over $3.5 million. Yikes.

• The ‘gadgets’ are being developed by an Oscar-winning special effects supervisor, so that means that while there will likely be function pieces that resemble bullet-proof shielding and such, it’s not likely buyers will actually be able to launch passengers via ejector seat or cut garage doors in half with actual headlight-mounted machine guns.

• Only 28 will be produced; 25 of these will be available for purchase and will be delivered in 2020.

• Lastly – and this is a big one – in typically British, understated fashion, on its press release, Aston Martin included a footnote: “Please note, this car is not road legal.

So, for a cool 3.5 million bucks, you too can own an original-looking “silver Birch” painted DB5, in which you can zoom around the grounds of your sprawling English manor, dropping thumbtacks on the road for your manservant to retrieve one by one.

Horsepower: 282 (bhp)
Torque: 280 lb-ft
