In the last couple of years, automakers — including Porsche, Mercedes and even Mazda — have introduced programs and facilities offering factory-backed restoration of their aging icons and classic cars. It’s an awesome trend for vintage car enthusiasts, as it allows more and more individuals to get their hands on vintage cars that look, feel and function as though they rolled off the factory floor, decades ago. Jaguar and Land Rover offered these services since 2016, when it launched its Classic Works arm, but only with facilities in Coventry, England and Essen-Kettwig, Germany.
Now, Classic Works has announced plans to open a third facility right here in the United States. Set to start construction in August next year, the new Classic Works operation will be located in Savannah, Georgia in the same industrial park as Gulfstream Aerospace’s facilities. The 75,000-square foot space will include a showroom, as well as a whopping 42 bays for the restoration and service of classic Land Rovers and Jaguars.
The introduction of the Classics Programs will make it much easier for Jaguar-Land Rover to accommodate the U.S. classic car market and enthusiasts. This goes both for current owners of Land Rovers and Jaguars who want to give them a refresh with genuine parts, as well as prospective owners, who can simply walk into the showroom and purchase a completed, verified car (called a “Works Legend”) with a 12-month warranty. Either way, if you ever wanted a super clean classic Range Rover or E-Type, the opening can’t come soon enough.
