J.D Power released its 2018 awards for highest Initial Quality this week and among the winners is the Toyota Corolla, which bodes well for the brand-new hatchback. To determine initial quality, J.D Power takes into account the number of problems per 100 cars new owners experience within the first 90 days of ownership.
Around 30 brands across 10 market segments were considered. The Toyota Corolla was the highest ranked Compact car, beating out the Chevrolet Cruz and Kia Forte. Obviously, the driving dynamics aren’t taken into consideration for initial quality but, come to the end of the year, don’t be surprised if the Toyota Corolla Hatchback racks up even more awards.
