Alfa Romeo isn’t being shy about who it’s gunning for with its new Stevio Quadrifoglio performance SUV: the Porsche Macan Turbo. The Italian competitor boasts the same twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 from the Giulia Quadrifoglio Sedan, which means it gets the same 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. But, with the Stelvio’s AWD system, the sporty SUV can get from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, carry on to a top speed of 176 mph and hustles around the Nürburgring in just under 7:52, making it the fastest current production SUV around the track.

The hot rod Stelvio’s higher top speed and power advantage over the Macan Turbo come at a price: $79,995, versus the Porsche’s $78,250 price tag. But, in a fully loaded Stelvio Quadrifoglio, expect the interior to look near-identical to the Giulia Quadrifoglio Sedan (carbon fiber bucket seats, for instance); on the outside, the same massive Brembo brakes rein it all in. Furthermore, based on how well we know the standard Stelvio handles corners, getting a tuned suspension and the same Ferrari-derived turbo V6 means the hot rod Stelvio will be the closest thing we have to an SUV from Marinello… for the time being.
