So Lamborghini and Ferrari have the market on Italian exotic cars. Perhaps there’s room for another. The
Spada Codatronca Monza
(no, it’s not a tomato based pasta dish) actually has some serious Italian blood coursing through its veins. Ercole Espada was once chief stylist for Zagato, a design house that needs no introduction. He moved on to design Ferraris, Alfa Romeos and Lancias, just to name a few. His current partnership with his son, Paulo, has birthed this racy number that’s powered by a supercharged 7.0 liter Corvette Z06 engine. The car itself weighs in at a scant 2,756 pounds which should enable the Monza to throw down some sinful acceleration numbers somewhere in the low 3s and top out at over 200 mph. The design itself is clean and progressive, utilizing Formula 1 elements and a blend of angular and smooth lines. We especially like the Jaguar D-type-esque rear vertical section. The Monza is roadster that surely stands apart in an already crowded field of open air exotics.
