Jaguar’s New 600 Horsepower Sport Sedan Obliterates Physics

When you add 250 horsepower to an already zippy car, you create hellspawn.

Most cars exist to move people and things from A to B. Jaguar’s new XE SV Project 8 seems to exist because some mad scientist-engineers wish to teach 300 very lucky owners an insane physics lesson: when you put a 592 horsepower, supercharged, 5.0-liter V8 in a 3,847-pound car, it will reach 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, and its maximum speed will be 200 mph.

The XE SV Project 8 is based on Jaguar’s small XE sedan, which is widely available with a relatively docile yet highly entertaining 340 horsepower V6. The folks at Jaguar have seen fit to add to it 20-inch wheels, carbon fiber bodywork and aerodynamic bits, all while keeping its weight exactly the same. This, of course, lets that extra 250 horswepower, uh, shine, as you can see and, thankfully, hear in the video below. (Spoiler: it sounds terrifying.)

Only 300 are available in North America, and they’ll all be in four-seat configuration. Outside our borders, two-seat track-ready versions will also be available.

See? That dorky teacher from high school was right: physics really is fun.

Speaking of Incredible Jaguars…
