Okay, so the new Camaro has taken the muscle car world by storm, throwing down against the Ford Mustang and winning (so far) in the number race. Now Chevy has its crosshairs focused on the Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 with its upcoming rubber scorcher, the 2012 Camaro ZL1. More performance car than muscle car, the tweaks involve a more powerful V8 that churns out 550 hp backed by an Eaton supercharger, more aggressive air intakes for increased airflow, enhanced downforce components, 20 inch forged wheels, a Tremec high-torque capacity “MG9” TR-6060 six-speed manual gearbox with twin disc clutch, and beefy Brembo brakes. It is an overall performance game-changer for the Camaro, and it makes lesser versions look like they belong in an 80’s limp-wristed big hair band video. $50,000 (Estimated).
