England has the Land Rover, Germany has the G-Wagon, Japan has the FJ, and the U.S. has the Jeep. And, like the others, our four-wheelin’ hero was born out of the WWII war effort and then converted for civilian use soon after the fighting stopped. Its original purpose was to cart our soldiers confidently across the broken terrain that was Europe, so it’s no surprise that when it took up civilian duties, it made for one hell of an off-roader.
But the Jeep is uniquely American. The Jeep has always looked at home whether it’s carrying families around suburbia, cruising down to the beach or tackling mud and rocks somewhere off the beaten path. And the legacy that is Jeep culture is exactly what the Jeep Heritage Expo celebrates. No matter if you’re driving a lifted, winch-laden, snorkel-breathing rock crawler or a base-level Wrangler Sport, fellow Jeep drivers will almost always give each other the “Jeep Wave.” The simultaneous acknowledgment of “that guy gets it.”
At the 2017 Jeep Heritage Expo, Jeeps of all kinds are represented, from the aforementioned rock crawlers and base-model Wranglers to vintage Jeeps of every era, and even a few modified Cherokees. Get lost in Jeep fever and take a look at the best this year’s Expo had to offer.
