Iconic German brands Porsche and Puma have collaborated on a limited run of sneakers inspired by the iconic 911 Turbo sports car. Consider them the ultimate reasonably-affordable gift for the Porsche enthusiast; after all, that breathtaking custom Singer air-cooled 911 will be out of most buyers’ price range.
The Puma designs celebrate eight different 911 Turbo models, spanning from the Type 930 introduced in 1975 to the current 992-generation model that debuted in 2020. Each shoe incorporates period-specific 911 Turbo paint colors, rear-wings, light bars, interiors and body lines into each sneaker’s design. Shoes referencing air-cooled 911 Turbos of yore use Puma’s 1970s-inspired Future Rider as the base sneaker; modern water-cooled 911 Turbos get the sleek, motorsport-inspired Speedcat as the base.
These limited-edition Porsche/Puma shoes will be available for sale on both the Porsche Design and Puma websites for $150. They will also sell at Puma’s flagship store in NYC as well as Porsche Design and Porsche Experience Centers.
Porsche Design’s website is holding a special pre-release event on Monday November 16th at exactly 12:00 EST. But you will have to act quickly — or to be more specific, 911 Turbo quickly. Porsche says it’s going to be the “world’s fastest” pre-order event, with the window lasting 2.7 seconds, a nod to the 0-60-mph acceleration time for the 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo.
