Two Very Different, Pristine Vintage Porsches; Two Very Different Prices

It’s an agonizingly difficult choice.

In one corner, you have an ’86 Porsche 911 Turbo with 32,000 miles on the clock. In the opposite corner, you have an equally pristine ’87 911 Carrera “Turbo Look” Cabriolet for a significantly lower price, albeit with a decent number of miles on the clock. Which do you go for?

The Turbo 911s from the ’80s are among the most coveted Porsches on the market, but they come with, some might say, a justifiably high price. Mind you, the ’87 “Turbo Look” 911 isn’t an amateur replica job. 302 examples of the official “Turbo Look” wide-body styles came from the Porsche factory. They also came equipped with larger tires and better brakes, similar to the Turbo, but retained the naturally aspirated 3.2-liter flat-six engine.

It’s an agonizingly difficult decision: Do you spend the extra cash on the genuine Porsche performance or do save money and go for the genuine Porsche pretender?
