Buying vintage can be pretty daunting.

Editor’s Note: We love scouring the internet for reasons to spend money we don’t have on cars we daydream about owning, and these are our picks this week. All prices listed are bid amounts at the time of publishing.

Buying vintage can be pretty daunting. What with classic Porsches and a majority of vintage BMWs going for hundreds of thousands of dollars at this point, you might not know where to start. But if you’re dead set on buying a vintage car and you’re still strapped for cash, a clean high-mileage car might be your best answer.

High mileage tends to scare most buyers off. But if you find a car that has an in-depth service record and has been taken care of, yet still has over 100,000 miles on the clock, there’s a chance it might be a worthwhile deal. These four cars have been around the block once or twice, but they’re still worth a look.

Euro-Spec 1985 BMW M 635 CSi

What we like: It’s almost too hard to find 6-Series cars that are this well kept. The few blemishes you might find on this M 635 CSi are easy to overlook when you get to ride in that pristine, creamy white interior every day.
From the seller: This 1985 BMW M 635 CSi is a Euro-market example imported by Hardy and Beck Performance of Berkeley, California, in March 1985. The car is thought to have remained in California until moving in 2006 to Delaware, where it was lightly used and stored in a heated garage.

1994 Land Rover Range Rover

What we like: Everyone loves old Range Rovers, but they admittedly had their faults. A big complaint with this particular era of Rangers was that the air-ride suspension would just give up. Luckily, this owner has provided a full coil-over-suspension swap, which is becoming more common — and appreciated.
From the seller: This 1994 Land Rover Range Rover shows 106K miles and is a long wheelbase that benefits from recent services. Power comes from an unmodified 4.2-liter V8 paired to a four-speed automatic with transfer case. The truck has been modified with a conversion to coil springs and OEM shocks to replace the stock air-ride setup.

1990 BMW M3

What we like: Affordable first-generation M3s are unbelievably hard to find.
From the seller: This Alpine White over black 1990 BMW M3 was purchased by the seller four years ago and now shows 110,700 total miles. It has been left stock throughout aside from one known repaint, a Z3M rear differential cover, a Z3M shift knob, and a modern Blaupunkt CD stereo head-unit. The factory 2.3-liter S14 inline four-cylinder engine and Getrag five-speed manual transmission have been maintained to factory specifications.

1993 Land Rover Defender 110 NAS

What we like: This Defender is well traveled, but it’s not like it was unloved. Basically, if you buy this particular Land Rover, you’ll be expected to go on adventures.
From the seller: This 1993 Land Rover Defender 110 is one of the 500 North American Spec (NAS) vehicles, and it has spent most of its life in Oregon and Washington. The chassis has 157K total miles, and 25K miles have been added since the professional installation of a factory-new International HS2.8L diesel with a brand-new Ashcroft R380 and LT230 1.4 transfer case.
