Despite being filled to the brim with luxury appointments and being driven more regularly a status symbol, the modern G-Wagen is still incredibly capable off-road. But if you’re looking to travel down more fire service roads than city streets and you can do without heated seats, wood trim and radar-guided cruise control, this particular 230GE is your car. It’s a rebuilt beast with a new and incredibly pretty Mercedes-Benz Granite Gray paint job and original plaid interior. It’s spartan, to say the least, but that’s half the charm. Which is enough to make you overlook the fact that the A/C doesn’t work. Hey, it’s under $5,000. Just think of the $117,400 dollars you have left put into a new unit.
