It’s been quite a long time since everyone’s favorite crotchety grump of a TV host/automotive journalist/master of insults Jeremy Clarkson essentially ended Top Gear. The British motoring show — co-hosted by James May and Richard Hammond — was one of the absolute shining stars on the tube, to gearheads and non-gearheads alike, with live-audience waitlists stretching a year long. After the forced hiatus, what was old is new again: The Grand Tour is Amazon’s recapitulation of the Top Gear formula. And it is wondrous.
Henry and I began live-tweeting from the GP handle (@gearpatrol) last night just minutes after the first episode was released. Find all that below — but know that the “old” Top Gear is alive and well. In fact, The Grand Tour is satisfying, marvelously entertaining and everything we could have hoped for.
