The lifted-crossover-wagon revolution, sparked by the AMC Eagle in the ‘80s, seems to now be in full swing. The Subaru Outback is a best seller. The new Volkswagen Golf Alltrack was recently released to considerable acclaim. Audi’s Allroad is returning, completely revamped, for Fall 2016. Just last week, Volvo unveiled a Cross Country version of the lauded V90. And now, not to be left in the dust, Mercedes-Benz has taken the covers off the E-Class All-Terrain.
Based on the standard E-Class estate, the new All-Terrain has received plastic off-road-y body cladding, 4MATIC all-wheel-drive standard, and a new air suspension that provides up to an additional 1.4 inches of ride height. As of now, the All-Terrain will launch with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel and isn’t going to be available in the US; though, considering Mercedes already sells the standard E-Class Wagon here, and the US market’s love for crossovers is booming, we suspect it will eventually make its way to our shores. At least we hope so.
