The Toyota Land Cruiser has been Japan’s champion overlander since the ’50s. Staunch reliability, toughness and incredibly simple interiors made the early models bulletproof off-roaders. The newer generations, while still incredibly reliable, on- and off-road, are more luxury-focused and carry much higher asking prices. Even though classic Cruisers, in incredible condition, are seeing prices climb, you can still bring one home for a quarter of the price of a fresh-from-the-factory J200 series. So, we went exploring and found a handful of classic Land Cruisers, spanning the decades, that are ready for a new home and a few more adventures.
1968 FJ55

What we like: The massive luxury-focused Land Cruisers that Toyota builds today owe their genesis to FJ55. Though the FJ55 is billed as the first of the Land Cruisers to be “comfort-minded,” this two-toned example is incredibly spartan by today’s standards — exactly what makes the classic Cruisers so lovable.
From the seller: “Ultra-rare FJ55 wagon. Most of these limited-produced wagons have been rusted away back to the earth. Doing a restoration/customization project on a FJ55 like this would cost over $20,000 not including the vehicle itself. Own this vintage Land Cruiser at a fraction of the build cost.”
