Volvo Buys Polestar
While Volvo and Polestar have always collaborated on awesome Swede speed machines, Volvo has officially bought 100 percent of the race-car builder with the intention of turning them into their in-house tuning firm to compete with the likes of AMG and BMW’s M-Division. Polestar cars have been limited run so far, with only 750 cars projected to sell this year, but the new deal should see a double in production and sales. Be prepared to see more Bleu de France wagons whiz pass you on the road. bloomberg.com

Mercedes-AMG CLA45 and GLA45 Get More Power
The 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine shared by both the CLA45 AMG and GLA45 AMG will be getting a bump in power, from 355 horsepower to 367 horsepower. The result is quicker 0-60 times: the CLA45 will do it in 4.1 seconds and the GLA will do it in 4.3. That’s a drop of 0.3 and 0.5 seconds, respectively. The updated stablemates will also boast new “Turbo” badges, perhaps the cars’ most vital improvement. autoweek.com

Guy Martin’s 400 Mph Triumph
The current land-speed record for a two-wheeled vehicle at the Bonneville salt flats is 376.36 mph, set by Ack Attack’s Suzuki-powered motorcycle in 2010. Motorcycle racer and TV personality Guy Martin is gunning for that record, though, with the help of Triumph. The motorcycle he’s using is powered by two turbocharged Rocket III engines that produce a combined horsepower of 1,000, and if everything goes according to plan it should hit 400 mph. autoblog.com

Mustangs from Space
For the eighth time now, Ford will be donating a Mustang for AirVenture, a charity auction hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Mustang in question is a one-off, specially modified car built as an homage to the Apollo space program. Besides its lunar looks, the ‘Stang boasts a supercharger (making it good for 627 horsepower), an X-pipe exhaust, upgraded suspension and Brembo brakes. Proceeds go to the EAA’s Youth Aviation programs, helping more children discover a love of flying. fortune.com
