This auction includes a Lamborghini Reventon, the first-ever production Bugatti Veyron and Pope John Paul II’s Ferrari Enzo, just to name a few.

In 2014, between Bonhams, Gooding & Co., Mecum and RM auctions, hundreds of millions of dollars changed hands for some of the world’s most exotic metal. New records were continuously being set and then broken. In fact, if a classic Ferrari was to cross the block in 2014, it was almost expected to go for a record sum greater than the GDPs of small countries. Nine of the top 10 most expensive cars sold at auction in 2014 were Ferraris, all except for a 1964 Ford GT40 (sold at $7,000,000) that spoiled an all-Italian top 10. Top honors went to a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, at a world-record-setting $38,115,000. But if 2014 was about stratospheric individual prices, 2015 may be the year for notable collections.

RM Sotheby’s Classic Car Auction just revealed a portion of a collection of cars that they’re referring to as the “Pinnacle Portfolio.” It’s set to be auctioned at this August’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The group of cars includes the first-production Bugatti Veyron, the second-to-last road-going Mclaren F1 in LM spec, a Porsche 959, one of 20 Lamborghini Reventons ever made, six classic Ferraris, and the 400th and final Ferrari Enzo ever made, the previous owner being Pope John Paul II. All told, RM expects the group to fetch $65 million (minimum), making it “the most valuable single collection of motor cars ever presented at auction.” Yes, single collection. One incomprehensibly rich individual is clearing out what we can only assume is a fraction of his secret lair garage.
