The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport: Everything You Need to Know

Ford’s baby Bronco could be getting some major upgrades next year.

·

Back in 2021, Ford relaunched the Bronco to the glee of many enthusiasts — but unexpectedly to some, the carmaker launched it as a sub-brand, with multiple vehicles. The first “Bronco” to launch for 2021 was actually the Bronco Sport, a smaller crossover with Bronco styling details.

Of course, the inexorable march of time means the Bronco Sport should be due for a refresh soon. Prototypes of this smaller, ahem, Built Wild (Ford’s Bronco-brand slogan) SUV have already been spotted testing.

Here’s what we know so far about the 2025 Bronco Sport refresh.

The Bronco Sport should receive an interior upgrade

The current Bronco Sport’s infotainment setup has grown dated. It’s still rolling with Ford’s Sync 3 software and it has a tiny 8.0-inch touchscreen. Prototypes have been spotted testing with what appears to be Sync 4 and the new 13.2-inch curved screen in the 2024 Mustang. The new Ford Digital Experience infotainment system from the 2025 Explorer could be another software possibility.

The Bronco Sport may be getting an off-road upgrade

A Bronco Sport prototype was spotted on Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires. (Fun fact: they’re labeled as “Goodyear Goodyear” on the Bronco, to avoid any association with a certain Jeep). Those are different from the tires on the Bronco Sport’s current top-of-the-line Badlands off-roading trim. It’s not clear whether the Badlands trim will get enhancements, or Ford is planning to offer another trim above it. (Bronco Sport Raptor, anyone?)

Will the Bronco Sport offer a hybrid engine?

Maybe. Automotive News reported back in 2021 that the Bronco Sport would receive a hybrid option, potentially in 2024. And Ford has some potential options already compatible, thanks to the C2 platform that the Bronco Sport shares with several vehicles.

The Maverick currently offers a 191-horsepower 2.5-liter inline-four hybrid. That’s about the same power output as the Bronco Sport’s 1.5-liter turbo base engine — although the Maverick’s hybrid is not currently compatible with all-wheel-drive, which could make it a no-go for the Baby Bronc. Ford could alternatively offer the 310-hp hybrid setup from the Lincoln Nautilus as an upgrade.

When will the Bronco Sport refresh happen?

Ford has not confirmed a timeline for the Bronco Sport refresh yet, though prototypes already being on the street suggests it could be soon. Car and Driver expects the Bronco Sport refresh to arrive for the 2025 model year. That should mean a reveal sometime in 2024.
