This Luxurious New Airstream Has Me Rethinking All My Life Decisions

The Classic 28RB boasts a (relatively) compact floor plan and a bevy of amenities.

A home away from home is one thing. But what if that home away from home could be even nicer than, you know, your actual home?

That’s the exact thought I have gazing upon Airstream’s latest release, a 28-foot edition of its flagship Classic travel trailer.

Making its debut at the Florida RV Supershow, the Classic 28RB is actually the shortest, most affordable version of the trailer, which is also available with 30- and 33-foot floor plans.

But while it packs a shorter rear bedroom layout, it is just as loaded with luxe amenities as its bigger brothers. And at the moment, I am finding it a helluva lot more attractive than the overpriced NYC apartment from which this story is emerging.

Comfort Plus

While Airstream’s indelible aluminum exteriors have not changed all that much since 1931, you’ve got to give the brand credit: On the inside, these trailers are continually evolving to integrate modern technology and provide plenty of cush and convenience for customers.

In the case of the new Classic, that means Smart Control Technology and the MyAirstream app, which enable you to control and monitor your environment for optimal comfort.

Not unlike the recently announced Midnight Flamingo Flying Cloud, the 28RB also comes standard with a premium Klipsch audio package.

Power-wise, it comes standard with a 2000W 12V – 110V inverter, a 300W solar charging system with interior monitor and 200Ah heated lithium batteries with remote monitoring. It weighs 7,650 and boasts an 8,800-pound maximum trailer capacity.

Available in Comfort White and Estate Brown décor packages, the 28RB also offers premium Ultraleather seating, powered bed controls with Queen or twin bed configurations and a surprisingly spiffy-looking bathroom.

Because no domicile would be complete without a home-cooked meal, the kitchen comes complete with a convection microwave oven and three-burner gas stove.

I just looked over and confirmed that my stove has four burners. “So,” in the immortal words of Carl Spackler, “I got that going for me, which is nice.”

But dammit, I’d rather have this Airstream.
