Naoya Hida & Co. Type 5A-1

Japanese boutique watchmaker Naoya Hida & Co. is a small group of craftsmen making every element by hand in a small workshop in Tokyo. The brand takes inspiration from what it calls the “golden age of watchmaking,” from the 1920s through the 1960s, in both the appearance of its watches and how they are made. As with all of its watches, the new Type 5A-1 can be purchased through pre-order and only 10 units are slated for production through 2025. The 26mm case, featuring a two-part hand-engraved silver dial and 18-karat white gold hands, houses an in-house manual movement with a 38-hour power reserve.

Shibumi Chair

Shibumi, the North Carolina brand behind the viral sun shade, expands into seating with a pair of beach chairs. The standard version sits a foot off the ground, has a 300-pound weight capacity and features four reclining positions; it also boasts an innovative clipping system to haul two chairs via hands-free backpack straps. The Tall Chair (shipping May 23) increases the height to 17 inches and load capacity to 400 pounds, while swapping the carry system for a single shoulder strap.
Sony Xperia 1 VIISony

Sony Xperia 1 VII

Sony’s flagship smartphone for 2025, the Xperia 1 VII, feels like a throwback. Yes, it boasts all the high-end specs you’d expect from today’s flagships, including a gorgeous 6.5-inch OLED display and an excellent triple-camera system. However, it also features elements from the past, including a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack and expandable storage capabilities via a microSD card slot. It’s expected to cost $1,700, but unfortunately, it’s unlikely to be released in the US.

Available in 12 colors and three materials — high-performance Cordura, XPAC sailcloth and waxed canvas — the bag is light, durable and weather-resistant, too.

Focal Diva Utopia (Lacquered Finishes)

Focal’s Diva Utopia are high-end wireless active floorstanding speakers that cost $40,000. When they were initially released in October 2024, they were only available in one grey felt finish. However, the French luxury audio maker has now introduced three new lacquered high-gloss finishes: black, dune and white. But they come with an additional $9,500 cost.

State Bicycle Co. x NFL Collection

In a somewhat surprising collaboration, State has joined forces with the NFL to produce team-themed bikes and gear. The first wave of the year-long partnership features 10 teams popping up on such bikes as the Klunker and Core-Line (above), plus road and mountain bike jerseys (also above), hats, bags, saddles, stem caps and bar-end plugs. Tailgate tip: Use the road jersey‘s handy back pockets to stash extra beers and, umm, chicken wings?

Ming 29.01 Midnight

Ming gave its 29 series worldtimer an incognito makeover with a slate gray DLC-coated titanium case, solid black dial and black rubber strap with a matching DLC-coated buckle. The minimalist world time track is written out in a sans-serif font and registered with Ming’s signature hands. However, the entire dial comes alive in the dark, thanks to full Super-LumiNova X1 coating. It runs on a bespoke Schwarz-Etienne caliber ASE 222 automatic movement, visible through the full sapphire glass case back.
