Naoya Hida & Co. Type 5A-1
Japanese boutique watchmaker Naoya Hida & Co. is a small group of craftsmen making every element by hand in a small workshop in Tokyo. The brand takes inspiration from what it calls the “golden age of watchmaking,” from the 1920s through the 1960s, in both the appearance of its watches and how they are made. As with all of its watches, the new Type 5A-1 can be purchased through pre-order and only 10 units are slated for production through 2025. The 26mm case, featuring a two-part hand-engraved silver dial and 18-karat white gold hands, houses an in-house manual movement with a 38-hour power reserve.

Shibumi Chair
Shibumi, the North Carolina brand behind the viral sun shade, expands into seating with a pair of beach chairs. The standard version sits a foot off the ground, has a 300-pound weight capacity and features four reclining positions; it also boasts an innovative clipping system to haul two chairs via hands-free backpack straps. The Tall Chair (shipping May 23) increases the height to 17 inches and load capacity to 400 pounds, while swapping the carry system for a single shoulder strap.

Sony Xperia 1 VII
Sony’s flagship smartphone for 2025, the Xperia 1 VII, feels like a throwback. Yes, it boasts all the high-end specs you’d expect from today’s flagships, including a gorgeous 6.5-inch OLED display and an excellent triple-camera system. However, it also features elements from the past, including a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack and expandable storage capabilities via a microSD card slot. It’s expected to cost $1,700, but unfortunately, it’s unlikely to be released in the US.

Inside Line Equipment Frame Bag
ILE broadens its on-bike offerings with this premium stash pack, handmade in Berkeley, California using US-milled materials. Delivering more than meets the eye, the Frame Bag has internal dividers for tools, layers and small essentials, plus an easily accessible phone pocket, slots for a pump and Dynaplug and multiple Velcro attachment options to fit various bike sizes. Available in 12 colors and three materials — high-performance Cordura, XPAC sailcloth and waxed canvas — the bag is light, durable and weather-resistant, too.
