This Limited-Edition 35th Anniversary Promaster Is Named After a Crustacean

And there’s a great story, proving Promaster’s professional-grade quality, to justify the moniker.

It’s been 35 years since Citizen introduced the Promaster, a line now synonymous with professional-grade adventure. The brand is celebrating with a limited-edition reference, the Promaster Fujitsubo.

Fujitsubo is Japanese for “barnacle,” and nods to a 1977 Citizen Challenger Diver that was found covered in the ocean-dwelling crustaceans — still ticking — after being submerged in the ocean for years.

Name aside, this limited-edition timepiece is free of barnacles but full of features sure to attract the attention of dive-watch enthusiasts. The retro-designed Fujitsubo centers around a lightweight and scratch-resistant Super Titanium case with a marine blue dial, automatic movement, and a 42-hour power reserve.

Citizen will limit production to 4,500 pieces worldwide, and each unnumbered Fujitsubo comes in an exclusive blue collector’s dive tank box.
