Today in Gear: In-the-Know on New Releases

Rumors are swirling around a new giant iPad Air. The device is predicted to launch at 12.9 inches, and could be billed as a large, but less premium, rival to the company’s iPad Pro. If it releases at the proposed specs, the device will stretch two inches larger than the current iPad Air model but match the largest version of the iPad Pro (as the company currently offers 11 inch and 12.9 inch versions). Nevertheless, the company is still yet to confirm these specs (and rumors), but some fans expect the new, larger iPad Air to drop sometime in 2024.

Blackstock & Weber Dropped a Full Tweed Set

Blackstock & Weber is known for creating fine leather loafers and mules, and now the company has released the all new Gloverall Duffle Pack ($795). The ‘pack’ pairs a houndstooth trench with a matching bucket hat, and tops each with a custom label celebrating the brand’s collab with Harris Tweed. Each piece is also made with Houndstooth wool from the Harris Tweed Archives, and lined with a light blue Oxford cloth lining.

Mystery Ranch and Carryology Release a $1,200 Bag

The Mystery Ranch x Carryology 2023 collaboration will center around two bags: the Unicorn 2.0 XDT ($1,200) and the Unicorn 2.0 ($375). The Unicorn 2.0 XDT will be released in a super limited run to a small group of super-fans. It’s manufactured at the company’s Bozeman, MT headquarters and features an exclusive titanium patch. Meanwhile, the Unicorn 2.0 is a storage-forward bag built from X51 Xpac & Dyneema 150D; and lined with a wide range of pull tabs, loops and pockets.

CRKT Released SpaceX-Inspired Knives

These new knives were designed by Darriel Caston, and are based on a custom knife he created for a SpaceX mission crew. The new releases include the MinimalX Frame Lock ($60) and the plussed-up Mbombo Frame Lock ($225). The Mbombo boasts a Damascus steel cleaver blade and a sleek titanium handle, and the MinimalX is centered around a 12C27 steel blade and stainless steel handle.
