In 2024, U.S. car buyers will be able to apply an EV tax credit directly to the price of their vehicle — at the time of purchase. The federal tax credit will launch on January 1, 2024 and allows EV buyers to apply up to $7,500 to the price of an eligible new vehicle, and $4,000 for used EVs. The catch? The car’s battery must be made in the U.S. As a result, of the 45 different EV models currently for sale in the United States, only 10 will qualify for the credit. Nevertheless, it’s still a great way to save on a handful of models, and hopefully paving the way for better EV pricing to come.
