Some lucky Playstation Premium subscribers are being called upon by Sony to start early testing of the new cloud streaming feature. When the feature was initially teased in June, Playstation said it would support PS Plus catalog titles, game trials and owned digital PS5 titles. We now know that the streaming will also support up to 4K resolution. This new feature is particularly exciting for gamers because it will allow them to avoid long downloads and save storage on their devices. Cloud Streaming will be exclusive to PS Plus Premium members, and will potentially extend capability to the Sony handheld device that is anticipated to be launched in late 2023.

Today we’re taking a look at an upgraded vinyl experience, an iconic car release and a vintage inspired watch. This is Today in Gear.

Korea Gets the Coolest New North Face

the north face novelty gtx mountain jacket The North Face

While the North Face usually saves its style-focused pieces for collabs with other brands, for Fall/Winter 2023 they’ve updated a retro style with a distinct graphic treatment that is as fit for the streets as it is for the mountains. The classic Mountain Jacket was first released in 1990, but the updated release includes a waterproof GORE-TEX lining, and all-over photographic prints. The design is available in two different prints: a Mountain Vista featuring a stunning image of alpenglow in cloudy, rugged mountains, and the Snowy Mountains which overlays multiple images of peaks across the jacket. Both jackets are currently only available on the Korean TNF site, but we’re hopeful for a wider release.

In honor of the U.S. Forest Service’s mascot’s 79th birthday, Vero has released a special-edition watch to pay homage to the icon and give back. This Smokey ‘44 ($450) is inspired by popular designs from 1944, the year Smokey the Bear was introduced to revolutionize fire prevention messaging. The details include Smokey’s likeness at the 12 o’clock mark, his shovel on the second hand, and a call out to his catch phrase on the face. The watch features 120m water resistance, a stainless steel finish and two strap options (brown leather and canvas). This classic watch is available now for nature lovers and watch collectors alike.
