Tesla just acquired the wireless charging firm Wiferion. The Germany-based EV charging company typically focuses on industrial equipment, and says its chargers can offer a more efficient charging experience. In the past, the startup has centered around creating (and optimizing) charging equipment for trucks and forklifts, but now, many suspect they may be the key to Tesla’s long-desired ‘robotic charging arm.’ If the team succeeds there, Tesla could become the first automaker to implement large-scale wireless charging technology.
