Mr Jones Watches has made a name for itself with quirky, art-forward watches. Now, it’s announced its newest release “A Perfectly Useless Evening” which will run as a new variation on its popular “A Perfectly Useless Afternoon” watch. The brand describes its previous release as a watch made “to encourage you to take a break.” It – and the new release – display no numbers, no second hand, no exact date or time. Instead, a figure in an inner tube (with leg extended) functions as a vague hour hand, while a small pool float seems to imply the minutes. Both watches were designed by Kristof Devos, who drew inspiration from Lin Yutangs’ belief that, “If you can spend a perfectly useless afternoon in a perfectly useless manner, you have learnt how to live.” At about $225, it’s a fun conversation piece built for the artist, vacationer and bohemian.
Today we’re taking a look at a durable float tube, life jacket and marshmallow crossbow. This is Today in Gear.
