If you’re familiar with Byredo, you’re likely well aware of its upscale take on fragrances. The rumor mill is swirling around the luxury label, with a potential acquisition from L’Oréal on the horizon. While Fashion Network did announce that the sale was final (and based on a valuation of €1 billion), L’Oréal did not formally comment or respond to the publication. The same goes for Byredo or its founder Ben Gorham. Fans of the brand are reacting negatively to the news (or, rumors) given L’Oréal’s tendency for re-formulating or even dumbing-down acquired brands’ biggest products. While we’re happy that Gorham’s hard work in building Byredo has made it a smart acquisition for a global conglomerate, we hope that the brand’s (possible) new owner doesn’t change what made Byredo so successful in the first place. Celebrating 60 years of the Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute.

In honor of the Navitimer Cosmonaute’s trip to space on the Mercury-Atlas 7 (allegedly the first-ever Swiss writstwatch in space), Breitling has re-released the (space) pilot’s watch. Designed with a 24-hour bezel — a direct request from astronaut Scott Carpenter to keep track of day and night while in orbit — the model also includes the Navitimer’s signature circular slide rule for in-flight calculations. Limited to just 362 pieces and dotted with various markings and inscriptions to honor its space race history, if there’s one Navitimer to get your hands on — this is it.
