We’ve got a new date for Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference! Held online (like all of Apple’s events since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic) from June 6 through June 10, it will (as expected), “showcase the latest innovations in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS while giving developers access to Apple engineers and technologies to learn how to create groundbreaking apps and interactive experiences.” (it is for developers after all). Stay tuned to Gear Patrol’s Tech Desk for more as we get closer to (and break down what came out of) this year’s WWDC event. Apple event’s aside, we’re getting details on the Marathon Watch Company’s exclusive J.Crew collab, Nike’s next step forward in recycled sneakers and a new treasure trove of vintage jeans. This is Today in Gear.

marathon watch company™ x jcrew pilot's navigator with date watch J.Crew

If you’re familiar with Marathon Watch Company, it’s likely thanks to its utilitarian, Swiss-made watches (and analog wall clocks). J.Crew has teamed with the brand to release a collaboration Pilot’s Navigator with Date watch; limited to just 500 pieces, each watch is number engraved on the back of the case. Built with self-contained tritium gas tube for peak visibility and powered by a simple Swiss F06 quartz movement, it’s the type of watch that is emblematic of Marathon’s military-inspired minimalism and J.Crew’s everyday approach to modern style.

Nike’s Pegasus Turbo Next Nature is the Swoosh’s next step in recycled footwear.

nike pegasus sneaker Nike

The Pegasus series is Nike’s long-running (pun not intended) line of running shoes, often incorporating that period’s baseline Nike tech in a package that’s not just consumer-friendly, but a solid fit for most average runners. As the Swoosh strives to be more eco-friendly, the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature is a major step forward, consisting of “50 percent recycled material by weight and uses 100 percent recycled Flyknit yarns in the upper.” This is on top of 55 percent recycled ZoomX foam. As part of the brand’s “Move to Zero” strategy, this shoe represents how Nike can build sustainably, while still embodying peak, athlete-first performance.
