Even in a world where streaming services have never been more ubiquitous and accessible, there’s something (quaint? charming? nostalgic?) about owning physical media that remains a constant in our digital age. According to reports from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), CD sales in the U.S. rose for the first time in 20 years in 2021. Of course this is nothing compared to its peak at the turn of the millennium, but seeing CDs join a 15 year spike in vinyl record sales indicates that there’s a growing (albeit small and cult-like) following for physical media. As a site dedicated to highlighting great products day after day, it’s not hard to see the appeal of owning a piece of physical media in a world where ownership feels more removed, tangental and — most importantly — contingent upon having a reliable wifi connection. Start your week with Indian Motorcycle’s limited-edition FTR Championship Edition bike, the latest addition to Tissot’s PRX series and a “Quixotic” new blade from We Knife Co. This is Today in Gear.

Thanks to Lion Energy’s Safari ME portable solar generator, you’ll never be without power no matter where you are. Using Lithium Iron Phosphate technology — which is safer than Lithium Nickel Cobalt used by other generators — carries more charge and has a much longer lifespan. The Safari ME boasts 922 watt hours with an output of 2,000 watts continuously. Even better, the Safari ME charges completely in about 90 minutes, which is miles faster than the seven to 10 hour charging times of the competition.

Tissot’s PRX line just a got a little bit bigger…

tissot 1853 watch Tissot

It’s hard to top the value of a Tissot, and we love the brand’s PRX line, which was revived back in 2021. While the PRX series mostly focused on day-date styles, Tissot has beefed up the collection with the addition of a chronograph. Powered by a Valjoux A05.H31 automatic movement, the watch has a 42mm silhouette and boasts a sapphire display case back (perfect for showcasing the movement). For look and feel, the watch boasts an integrated stainless steel bracelet, and comes in either reverse panda or brushed blue dials — with contrasting subdials. While this particular watch comes out this June, head to Tissot to see more from the PRX family in the meantime.

Introducing a new We Knife Co flipper: the Quixotic.

we knife the quixotic We Knife

We Knife Co. has set itself up in the EDC space thanks to the sheer variety of its product offering. Its new futuristic flipper, dubbed the Quixotic, is a 3.45 inch drop point blade in CPM 20CV steel. Weighing in at just under 4 ounces, we’d expect this to be able to tackle anything from household chores to outdoor utility. With a handle in 6AL4V titanium — finished in a silver, bronze-black or flashy steel blue — this is sure to be an all-rounder regardless of personal style (though, if you’re asking us, we kind of love the eye-catching blue handle finish for a bit of flair).
