Omega has reveled its slate of new watches for 2022, and it looks like we’ll be receiving plenty of dive watches meant for life in and around the water (even if they never experience anything more than a few splashes in the bathroom sink). The Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep series makes the biggest splash (pun not intended), building upon an experimental dive watch from back in 2019. Designed to go 6,000 meters under water, the watches utilize a special alloy — “O-Megasteel” — which is effectively designed to handle the pressure of going that deep below the waves. The Speedmaster also got a few new tweaks, both for the Speedmaster ’57 (which is a modern release that’s designed to replicate the look and feel of the first-ever Speedmaster from back in 1957) and the Speedmaster Moonwatch. The latter edition of the Speedmaster now comes in a proprietary alloy Omega’s dubbed “Moonshine Gold.” For a more rigorous run-down of Omega’s slate for 2022, check out our reporting on the release over on our Watch Desk. We’re giving the download on Omega’s new watches for 2022, côte&ciel’s cycling focused spring collection and Athletic Brewing’s new insanely “lite” beer. This is Today in Gear.

Expanding on the success of its other filtration options, LifeStraw has unveiled the Peak Series — an outdoor-focused line that’s designed to be carried with you anywhere anytime you head out into the backcountry. The Peak Series 1L Collapsible Squeeze Water Bottle serves as an all-in-one water storage and filtration device. Made from sustainable plastics and featuring an extra-thick flask, it’s crafted to be stronger than any squeeze system currently on the market. Meant to filter out bacteria like E.Coli and parasites like Giardia from water, it’s also been optimized for an easy flow rate when drinking, with a custom over-cap to block leakage.

Athletic Brewing adds all-new staggeringly light Athletic Lite beer

For those of us trying to keep our alcohol consumption low (without sacrificing what we love about great beer), Athletic Brewing has rapidly become a favorite in the non-alcoholic drink space. The brand’s new Athletic Lite beer is as accessible as its other options, but leans even more into Athletic Brewing’s “sport of life” ethos; at just 25 calories and 5 carbs per 12oz serving, this is one beer we can imagine drinking post-workout with very little guilt.

Gerber’s titanium Devour is the only tool you need in the kitchen. Seriously.

Simply designed gear that can serve more than one function is always going to be relevant in our book — especially when it comes to working in the kitchen. Gerber’s Devour is one such piece of kit, built with six distinct tools and nine different functionalities to make food prep, cooking and (naturally) eating possible with a single piece of equipment. With a new corrosion-resistant titanium rework, the Devour has never been a better investment, regardless of where you’ll be cooking.

Côte&Ciel’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection caters directly to cyclists.

For its latest collection, French label Côte&Ciel has centered its high-concept design POV on the world of urban commuting and cycling. The range — which includes totes, sling bags, backpacks and messenger bags — have either been designed (or redesigned in some cases) to accent life on the move. This includes details like the Isarau Velo’s buckles, designed to clip easily onto a bike frame. The collection has also resulted in a single-speed e-bike, made in collaboration with Anders Hermansen.

New Balance’s newest unisex sneaker combines the 327, 237 and the 54/40.

Chalk it up to key collabs (or the evergreen, dad-adjacent appeal of the 990) but New Balance currently sits as one of the most culturally relevant sneaker brands in the business. The newly announced CT302 combines elements of other New Balance models — especially the oversized “N” logo seen on the 327, 237 and 54/40 — to create a lifestyle-focused sneaker that looks like if you threw a Nike Blazer into a blender with a bag of marshmallows. Dropping later this month, expect the CT302 to land somewhere around $100.
