Cars have always been collectible (and certainly artistic, in their own way) for decades, but there might be a change in the way car companies approach unique, one-off and limited-edition vehicles. With BMW tapping artist Jeff Koons on a hyper-exclusive release of 8 Series Gran Coupe vehicles, it’s a partnership that redefines the meaning of an “art car.” Inspired by both the pop art of comic book superheroes as well as BMW’s M Division, the livery and colorways were customized by Koons and required 11 different stages and hundreds of hours of painting and application. Limited to just 99 models total, this is one vehicle that is quite literally a piece of visual art. In a world where collectables are more pervasive than ever, secondary markets for just about everything have proliferated across industries and car companies are cashing in on streetwear-like collaborations (see Aimé Leon Dore’s work with Porsche and Kith’s work with BMW), this could be the signal that car manufacturers are planning to focus heavily on rare and commodified releases aimed squarely at collectors from the jump. It’s worked for so many industries already, so why wouldn’t it apply here? wrapping up the week with news on Gozney’s new Dome oven, Longines’ colorful Legend Diver watches and Mizuno’s heavyweight OMOI putter series. No one knows the benefits of pure cherry juice quite like Cheribundi. Cheribundi Pure — made from 100 percent tart cherry juice and nothing (and we mean nothing) else — uses a proprietary extraction process to leverage the fact that tart cherries are the most antioxidant-rich superfood in the world. On top of that, independent studies have shown that regularly drinking up to 16 ounces of tart cherry juice can reduce muscle soreness and inflammation and increase sleep time by up to 90 minutes per night.

Bring some weight to your short game with Mizuno’s M.Craft OMOI putters.

m craft omoi putters Mizuno

“Omoi,” which means “heavy” in Japanese, is an apt name for Mizuno’s new suite of M.Craft putters, with heads that are roughly 28 grams heavier than the standard modern-day putter. That heavier head, combined with a contrasting lighter grip and shaft changes the balance of the club — ultimately leading to more forgiveness on off-center shots. The collection features two blade-style putters (models 01 and 02) and one mallet-style putter (model 03), coming with 370 gram heads or a 383 gram head respectively. Just in time for spring, these OMOI models should be out in March.
