Is the DeLorean coming back from the past? Teased in a tweet on Super Bowl Sunday, it appears as if the iconic car company will be reviving itself for the EV era, launching a car called the “DeLorean EVolved.” The visual (and its many accompanying hashtags) imply that the new vehicle will focus as much on luxury as being futuristic, which may or may not be a good thing — given how much its legacy is tied up in the Back to the Future franchise. While it’s likely to be a low-production model and details are scarce at the moment, we can at least be grateful that, if the teaser video is anything to go off of, the DMC brand hasn’t given up on those iconic gullwing doors. DeLorean nostalgia aside, we’re taking a look at Patagonia’s Fall/Winter 2022 preview, Tag Heuer’s smart watch series and a new knife offering from Schrade. This is Today in Gear.

Patagonia unveils its extensive Fall/Winter 2022 lineup, including the first PFC-free GORE-TEX snow kit.

patagonia Patagonia

Based on what we’re seeing from Patagonia, we’re already excited for Fall/Winter 2022. Patagonia recently unveiled its slate of gear — from insulation and snow kits, to workwear and hiking equipment. Standouts include a redesigned Micro Puff jacket (a classic in its own right), the first PFC-free GORE-TEX snow kit and the introduction of the Patagonia Warmth Index. Calculated after serious testing in the Patagonia lab, it’s a 1-10 scale denoting the warmth of the respective item. While we wait for more info to come out as we get closer to the season, check out a deeper rundown below.

Tag Heuer adds new models to its Connected smart watch series.

tag heuer adds new models to its connected smart watch series Tag Heuer

A combination of modern smart watch functionality with the elegance of a Tag Heuer watch, the Connected series (currently Connected Calibre E4) represents the luxury watchmaker’s move into tech timepieces. The brand has recently introduced a smaller 42mm model to go alongside the 45mm option, with the 42mm going for a slimmer profile, while the 45mm boasts a ceramic bezel. For our money, we love that, at first glance (and compared to the competition) it’s hard to tell that its a smart watch in the first place. The new Connected Calibre E4 watches drop March 10.

A.P.C. takes a swing at golf with new collection.

apc APC

A.P.C. — the popular French label known for its approachable take on everyday luxury clothing — has added golf gear to its lineup, launching, fittingly, “A.P.C. Golf” for Spring/Summer 2022. While not much is known outside of a dedicated Instagram page, the collection should have fairway staples like polos, a sweater vest, some caps and bucket hats and — if this isn’t just for the lookbook — a club-ready golf bag made out of the label’s signature raw denim.

Volta expands partnership with Walgreens, adding 1,000 new charging kiosks.

volta Volta

Electric vehicle charging company Volta is expanding its partnership with Walgreens, adding 1,000 more of its DC Fast charging stands to 500 Walgreens stores. While the partnership began in in 2019 with just 49 stores, the expansion of the deal could be seen as both a sign of its success (especially if the ports drive people to visit Walgreens stores) and a good PR move for Walgreens in support of eco-conscious behaviors.
