With the second beta of iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 out to developers, there’s a few highlights that appear to be coming in the next patch of iOS. The most notable addition is a tweak to Face ID, which should allow Face ID to register a user while wearing a mask, with a focus on eye contact; the understanding being that Face ID needs eye contact to properly identify someone, especially when wearing a mask. Another addition looks to be tweaks to the “Tap to Pay” system, with other NFC compatible devices (like other iPhones) to receive payments and transfers via Apple Pay — just like you might at certain retail cash registers or payment points. For more on other possible tweaks hinted at in the iOS 15.4 beta, head over to MacRumors. We’re giving you a look at The Macallan’s oldest-ever release (seriously), Samsung’s newest slate of smartphones and an Eames chair-inspired loungewear lineup. This is Today in Gear.
