We know that Alfa Romeo might not be the automaker on everyone’s lips, it’s exciting always exciting to see a brand announce a new model to its lineup — especially when it’s part of the brand’s push into the EV space. The Alfa Romeo Tonale crossover is the first new model addition since the Stelvio SUV launched in 2016, and comes in two engine options. There’s the conventional gas-powered model 2.0L four-cylinder pushing 256 hp, but also a PHEV Q4 AWD engine that combines a 1.3L four-cylinder and an electric motor pushing 272 hp (and boasting about 30 miles of EV range). While the specs are an indication of Alfa Romeo’s “Metamorfosi,” the most interesting tidbit is that the Tonale will come with an NFT, serving as a digitized, non-modifiable certificate of authenticity; the data (think repair and maintenance records) will evolve with the car, serving as a futuristic way to track the Tonale’s activity over its lifespan. Is this the first car with its own NFT? Maybe. But in the meantime, we’re more curious to see how the Tonale handles in the physical space firsthand. New motors aside, we’re diving into details on Leica’s entry into the watch industry, Benchmade’s collab with Shinola and a Jeep branded… Razor e-scooter? This is Today in Gear.

Shinola and Benchmade link up for a custom take on the Crooked River knife.

No matter how many collabs we discuss and dissect, there’s always something exciting about two big names coming together. Shinola has teamed up with Benchmade on two iterations of the Crooked River. The Crooked River Mini collab goes for a classic outdoors aesthetic with a wooden handle, while the full-size Crooked River model goes for a more modern look — featuring a designed-by-Shinola custom carbon fiber handle and a black steel blade.
