In another combination of crypto and basketball, Nets’ star Kevin Durant — and his company Thirty Five Ventures — has signed on to be the face of cryptocurrency trading platform Coinbase. Speaking to Bloomberg, longtime Durant manager and firm co-founder Rich Kleiman, said of the deal, “Kevin does very, very few brand deals and that was by design. They’re this new model of brand partner for us, where they do integrate in all different parts of our business.” With Durant’s first ad for Coinbase set to launch this Thursday, the partnership is just the latest iteration of crypto firms’ push into different realms of pop culture and entertainment, putting the crypto-trading platform at the forefront of consumers minds as we wrap 2021 (and, frankly, enter the NBA’s lucrative Christmas game day slate).
