We’ve seen our fair share of rare whiskey releases and auctions, but we have to admit: We never expected Kroger (yes, the grocery store chain) to host one of the biggest bourbon auctions we’ve ever seen. First things first, this is technically the second edition of this event, named The Ultimate Bourbon Auction to End Hunger. As the name implies, the proceeds are directed toward ending hunger in the areas where Kroger operates. With some of the rarest and most-desirable whiskeys on the market — including the full 2021 releases of the Pappy Van Winkle and Buffalo Trace Antique collections — it’s not just a staggering lot of the biggest names in whiskey, it’s all in the pursuit of doing a bit of good. While we keep an eye on the list of items appearing at the upcoming auction, we’ve got our eyes on Hydrow’s world-class workout machine, the release of The Macallan’s Fine & Rare 1990 and the fitness tracker that will tell you when not to workout. This is Today in Gear.
