You’ve heard of natural deodorant, but what about natural deodorants built into your clothes? As part of its “Eco-Engineering” push, Polartec is making the jump from metal- to peppermint-based anti-odor treatments across all its performance fabrics. Peppermint oil — known for its ability to inhibit odor-causing microbes from growing in the first place — performed as good as (or better) than the metal-based antimicrobial protection in R&D trials (including those with Polartec’s “sniff judges”). It’s a good reminder that sometimes the best innovations aren’t ones you can’t see… but smell. Stimulate your other senses with today’s new gear updates, including the customizable pillow from Brooklinen’s sister brand, Snow Peak’s latest camping furniture and the adventure bike that’s inspiring us to finally go after that motorcycle license.

Make on-the-fly firmness adjustments with the pillow from this Brooklinen sister brand.

Marlow, a pillow-focused offshoot of Brooklinen, has released the aptly-named, “The Pillow”. Designed with an integrated zipper that adjusts firmness in the moment, gone are the days of dealing with inserts or shredded memory foam for the perfect firmness. Featuring a sateen cotton outer and a blend of memory foam and polyester fibers for cooling breathability, this is one product we can literally rest easy recommending.

Snow Peak adds new pieces to its robust roster of camping furniture.

snow peak

If you’re a regular here at Gear Patrol, you already know about cult camping-adjacent Japanese brand Snow Peak. The label recently released two new additions to its camping furniture line: a mesh folding chair and folding bench. Breathable and compact, both feature durable mesh polyester for the sitting surfaces, set upon hard-wearing aluminum alloy frames.

Chrome goes ballistic (in a good way) with new additions to the Barrage collection.

chrome

Chrome’s Barrage collection just got bigger with the inclusion of the Barrage Tote and Duffle. We love the slightly smaller (but still expansive) Tote size, which — at 27L capacity — is just big enough for daily gear or as a travel carry-on. Both options come with a five-point cargo net system, separate wet/dry compartments, welded waterproof liner and abrasion-resistant nylon shell.

The adventure bike that has us ready to secure a motorcycle license.

husqvarna

This writer can’t legally drive a motorcycle, but the Husqvarna Norden 901 has me seriously considering picking up a license. While the bike is designed to head off-road and handle myriad terrains, rounded out by creature comforts like an Easy Shift gearbox, “Offroad” ABS and a five-inch color TFT screen that can handle music, turn-by-turn direction and incoming calls.
