Is Hertz going to be the nearest place to actually get your hands on a Tesla? The rental car agency reportedly put in one of the (if not, the) largest single purchases of electric vehicles, adding 100,000 Tesla cars to its fleet. Not only does that bring in a little over $4 billion in revenue for Elon Musk and company, but it’s also a bold move for Hertz — a company roughly four months out of bankruptcy. It’s a move so bold, some industry watchers see it as a power play; such a big order locks up production for Tesla, and can theoretically box out Hertz’s competitors from making a similar, headline-grabbing buy themselves. While we look out for the Model 3 at Hertz rental locations over the next 14 months, check out these other equally impressive drops — including Oakley’s update on the classic Frogskin frame, the Target collab that’s going to change your kitchen countertop and one of the most minimal EDC tools we’ve ever seen. This is Today in Gear.

These aren’t your average Oakley Frogskins…

oakley frogskins sunglasses Farfetch

Originally produced in Japan back in 1985, Oakley’s Frogskin sunglasses were a revolutionary option in the sport-lifestyle eyewear space. This edition — made out of titanium — was exclusive to Japan (with each frame handcrafted in Fukui, Japan). Now, it’s available with a wider global release.

IWC makes a case for Ceratanium with the Pilot’s Watch Timezoner TOP GUN.

Named for the naval school (not necessarily the film), IWC’s Pilot’s Watch Timezoner TOP GUN taps into Ceratanium — a proprietary alloy that combines the lightness of titanium with the scratch-resistance of ceramic. Matte black with white accents, the bezel displays 24 different cities. The central hands are used for local time, while the arched window at 12 o’clock displays home time.

Crux teams with Ghetto Gastro for a collection that will change your kitchen countertop (and do a bit of good too).

air fryer Target

Exclusively available at Target, culinary collective Ghetto Gastro has teamed up with Crux on a collection of kitchen appliances. All featuring a sleek retro-modern aesthetic (with pops of red — it is Target after all), the suite of gear spans air fryers, toasters, coffee makers and even an indoor grill. The best part is that five percent of profits on this collab will go to nonprofits that are working to end food insecurity.

WESN drops one of the most stripped-down EDC tools we’ve ever seen.

the mt held in hand WESN

Nicknamed the “The Swiss Army Knife of the 21st Century” by the brand, WESN’s MT is as pared-down as an EDC can really be, consisting of a bottle opener, flathead screwdriver and small pry bar. With its carabiner-like shape, this actually is functional enough to earn a spot in your daily rotation, without any of the drama of toting a blade around.
