As someone who is — at best — a casual fitness enthusiast, I am not someone who needs a whole lot of technology in order to get in a workout. Traditionally speaking, all I ever really needed was a great pair of running shoes (more on that in a second) and a solid podcast to inspire me to work out. That was, until I discovered the deep well of tech that goes into outdoor biking. While I’m far from “fully invested” and still have plenty to learn, I’m consistently amazed by how light, efficient and — frankly — fun these bikes can be. If you’re looking for a new hobby-athletic pursuit-hybrid, it’s definitely a space to keep an eye on. For news spanning fitness, style, watches and whiskey, this is Today in Gear.

For a great run, it’s hard to top Nike’s Air Zoom Pegasus 38. There’s a reason the Pegasus model has clocked 38 iterations; as one of Nike’s signature running shoes, it represents the best blend of Nike innovation that’s built for casual joggers and everyday runners alike. The end result is a lightweight running shoe with a hyper-springy stride (without any unnecessary bulk).

Building on developmental breakthroughs that made the Aethos the lightest bike on the market, the all-new Crux is — according to Specialized — the lightest gravel bike. The S-Works 12r model clocks in with a frame that’s just 725 grams. The design also boasts a higher tire clearance, so your nimble frame can flex to whatever terrain you’re planning for.

This suede rider jacket reminds us: Buck Mason has been putting out heat this fall.

We’re pretty impressed with Buck Mason’s slate of gear this fall, and we’re adding this to our wishlist. Vat-dyed in indigo, this 100 percent full-grain cowhide jacket is made of suede that’s been tumbled and washed for peak softness. From the two piece sleeves to the clean zip front, it’s part workwear and part timeless luxury.

Cult fashion label Beams hits the Timex Camper with a copper rework.

You may or may not be familiar with the Beams family of brands; a blend of various vintage-inspired and modern fashion and lifestyle labels that have major status in its native Japan. If you’re new, let this Timex Camper collab be your introduction. Constructed of copper-finished stainless steel, it’s a watch that’s simple, elegant and ageless — much like many of Beams’s menswear designs.

The Macallan focuses on sustainable design with its “harmonious” new whiskey.

the macallan harmony collection The Macallan

The Macallan Harmony Collection is a push from the Scotch producer to explore sustainable alternatives to production and packaging, inspired by the nature found within the label’s Speyside estate. This “Rich Cacao” edition boasts biodegradable packaging made from by-products in chocolate production, with aromas of chocolate fondant and a palate of dark chocolate to round out the whiskey’s overall theme.
