Today marks the 10th anniversary of Apple icon Steve Jobs’ death. While it’s easy to obsess over Jobs’ rise and fall from the lens of Apple as a business, it’s probably better to memorialize the tech titan as an advocate for world-class product design. In tandem with Jony Ive (who in turn was influenced by the design languages of Braun’s Dieter Rams and the husband-wife duo of Charles and Ray Eames), Jobs’ Apple has directly influenced products both within — and well beyond — the tech and computing space. As we look at today’s product news, ranging from wearable audio tech from Sony to an Eames-inflected sneaker, it’s hard not to see Jobs’ aesthetic reach into the present-day. This is Today in Gear.

You’re likely already familiar with Charles and Ray Eames, one of the most important design duos of the 20th century. Reebok’s collab is a first-of-its-kind with the Eames Office, the current iteration of the Eames’ label. The first drop hits October 15 and 21, focusing on the Eames x Reebok Club C sneaker in black or white. A Ray Eames-focused follow-up is slated for later this year.

The wireless neckband speaker delivers Dolby Atmos-supported sound, especially when working in concert with a Sony Bravia XR TV and WLA-NS7 transmitter. Connected via Bluetooth, the device can connect to multiple devices, boasts a splash-proof IPX4 rating and can perform for up to 12 hours on a single charge.

Overall, it’s a cozy collection that’s equal parts country-inspired and modern contemporary.

Satisfy’s new American desert-themed running gear is no mirage.

Satisfy has always created running gear with a distinct attitude, and its latest collection is no different. Collaborating with Korean photographer Jungjin Lee, Satisfy pulls not just from the imagery of the desert (think: cacti), but the meditative quality of running alone in a desolate landscape. We’re not saying this is gear that will definitely put you in a zen headspace on your next workout, but it probably doesn’t hurt the process either.
