TIG-gear-patrol-TNF-body

The North Face Summit L3 Down Hoodie
Whether you’re launching an assault on an unclimbed peak, spending a day skiing at your local hill or just commuting to the office, the key to winter warmth is layering, and the crux of a dependable system is a lightweight down jacket. The North Face’s Summit L3 Down Hoodie insulates with 800-fill, responsibly-sourced goose down. It’s also equipped with a helmet-compatible hood and provides a full range of movement for whatever it is that you’re doing (so you never have to take it off). If you do need to take it off though, the jacket’s designed to stow inside its hand pocket, making it extremely easy to pack. Personally, we’re into the bold, two-tone look of the red and black option above, but the L3 Down hoodie is available in solid colors of black, blue and yellow if you prefer something more traditional.

TIG-gear-patrol-Hard-Graft-Soft-Bags

Hard Graft Soft Seven Bags
No matter how much you fold and organize your clothes and gear in a suitcase, whenever you get to your destination it always ends up being some varying level of a mess. Hardgradft looks to end that travel chaos and neatly compartmentalize all of your stuff, neatly into different sized melange bags — taking Tidy to a new level. — Bryan Campbell

TIG-gear-patrol-Converse-Patta-Chuck-70

Converse X Patta X Deviation Chuck 70
Converse teamed up with Amsterdam-based design Patta and London club Deviation to create a collection of vintage-inspired apparel and sneakers. The highlight of the collection is their take on the classic Chuck 70 low top. In this guise, the traditionally canvas upper is swapped for navy Casentino wool and features a leather inner lining. The shoe will go on sale from Converse’s website tomorrow (December 21st). — Andrew Connor

TIG-gear-patrol-Civilization-VI

Civilization VI for iPad
In a surprise move, Civilization VI just launched on the iPad. For you non-nerds, it’s a beloved PC game that was awarded the title of Strategy Game of the Year by the video gaming industry’s equivalent of the Oscars. Apple’s claiming the iPad title offers the full experience of the PC version, which is a testament to just how powerful iPad’s have become. It’s also how it should be considering the iPad game will match the $59 price tag of its PC counterpart. The good news is that you can play the first 60 turns for free to get a feel for things and the game is on sale for just $30 until Jan 4, 2018. If you’ve been wondering how you’d fill your holiday gaming down time, here’s your answer.

Fresh Deals

Amazon-watch-sale-gear-patrol-full-leadAmazon

Amazon Is Taking up to 60% off Several Awesome Wristwatches
Amazon is taking up to 60% off a selection of watches from great affordable brands like Timex, Citizen, Casio and more. But the crown jewel of this sale is undoubtedly Seiko’s recently-released “Orange Samurai.” It uses the same chunky case construction and automatic movement as the Samurai reissue launched early in 2017, but pairs it with a bright orange dial. Normally, this watch retails for $575, but now’s your chance to get it for only $431 (25% off). If you’re looking for something a bit more affordable, we’ve curated a few other favorites from this sale below.

Vitamix-5200-Blender-gear-patrol-lead-fullVitamix

Save a Cool $100 on the Last Blender You’ll Ever Need
The black version of Vitamix’s flagship blender, the 5200, is on sale on Amazon for $300. While the site lists savings of $250 (with a normal MSRP of $550), you should note that the same blender retails on the Vitamix website for $400, meaning the sale is really just $100 off. That said, it’s a great deal on what may be the last blender you’ll ever buy.

Santa-Fe-Knife-gear-patrol-full-lead

Save Up to 15% on Santa Fe Stoneworks Knives Made From Wooly Mammoth Bone
Just in time or the holidays, Huckberry is shaving up to 15 percent off Santa Fe Stoneworks knives, which aren’t your run-of-the-mill pocket knives. The folding three-inch Damascus steel blades not only look beautiful but are known worldwide for the ability to hold a sharp edge over years of use. Handle materials range from gorgeous designs of Ironwood and obsidian to wooly mammoth and dinosaur bone; some are finished off with inlays of turquoise or amber. As far as stocking stuffers are concerned, this sets a pretty high bar.

RavPower-Charger-gear-patrol-full-lead

One of the Best Wireless Chargers for Your iPhone Is 35% Off
The RAVPower Fast Wireless Charger is one of our favorite wireless charging pads. It comes with a powerful 24-watt, QC 3.0 wall adapter and can output 10 watts of power — you’ll be able to fast charge your new iPhone or Galaxy S8 to its full potential. Compared to other likeminded wireless Qi chargers, the RAVPower Fast Wireless Charge, at $50, is already a good deal, but today you can get an even better deal: Amazon is offering it for $33. That’s $17 off, meaning it’s not only one of the best wireless chargers, it’s also one of the cheapest.

Note: Some wireless chargers, like the Anker Powerport 10W ($26), are less expensive, but don’t come with a wall adapter. A 10-watt wall adapter, which is needed to charge the latest smartphones to their fullest potential, usually runs between $10 and $15.

Leesa-Matress-gear-patrol-full-leadLeesa

Modernize Your Sleep with a Premium Foam Mattress for 23% Less
Here’s an understatement: there are a lot of comes-in-a-box foam mattresses. Ever since Casper upended the mattress industry a la Warby Parker, internet bed companies have been sprouting up almost on a monthly basis. Included in the crowd is Leesa, whose foam mattress adapts to different body shapes and sleep styles (and it comes with that handy 100 day trial period). It’s the top-rated foam mattress by the reviewers at the Wirecutter, and it also gets this writer’s seal of approval — I’ve been sleeping on a Leesa for the past month.

Right now, on Amazon, those looking to upgrade their sleep experience can pick up a king size Leesa mattress for over $200 off, which makes it cheaper than buying the queen size.

Samsung-Portable-SSD-gear-patrol-full-lead

Save 25% on This Best-In-Class Portable SSD Drive
The Samsung T5 (Gen 2) is one of the best portable hard drives you can buy. Released in July 2017, it’s been praised for its compact and drop-proof design, as well as its transfer speeds (up to 540 MB/s), which are up to 4.9x faster than what most external HDDs can accomplish. And since the T5 utilizes a USB Type-C port, it’s the perfect partner for a new-age desktop or laptop setup. If there’s a knock against the T5, however, it’s the price — but that’s been slashed. You can get the T5 (500GB) for $150, which is $50 off its normal retail price.

Bastian-Tie-gear-patrol-full-leadBastian

Save 40% on This Timeless Knit Wool Tie
Now at Nordstrom, you can save 40% on this timeless knit wool tie from Michael Bastian. Made in Italy, it is 2.5 inches wide and 57 inches long. It’s a classic option for any dressier occasion, and right now you can still get it delivered before Christmas, so why wait?

Fuji-XT20-gear-patrol-full-lead

Save $100 on One of the Best Travel Cameras on the Market
Fuji’s X-T2 is arguably the best mirrorless camera you can buy. If you don’t have the $1,500+ (body only) to buy it, the X-T20 is a worthy fallback plan.

Released in February 2017, the X-T20 is basically a smaller and more affordable version of the X-T2 — they have almost identical shooting abilities. Aside from size and price, the main difference is that the X-T20 doesn’t have a touchscreen. Still, it’s arguably a better value than the X-T2. And if you order on Amazon, you can get $100 off the Fujifilm X-T20 with an XC16-50mm lens kit.

Amazon-Kindle-Paperwhite-gear-patrol-lead-full

Save $20 on the Kindle Paperwhite, Which I Love Enough to Buy Again
Last Christmas — no, this isn’t a WHAM! joke — my parents gave me a Paperwhite because it was on the wish list they forced me to make. It was a noncommittal, half-hearted suggestion that they scooped up immediately. I was skeptical. Wary, even. I like physical books because they smell good and look good and feel heavy and are satisfying to close after being open for hours.

But then I turned on my new Paperwhite and was smitten. It’s literally the perfect size; granted, I have somewhat large hands, but it’s light enough and small enough to fit in and be controlled by one hand, plus it slips into my back/interior/coat pocket effortlessly. It’ll store a boatload of books which I can highlight and annotate. I can look up strange words and tweet passages. Its 300 ppi display is ultra crisp and doesn’t suffer from glare, and since is front-lit for easy visibility in darker environs. It holds a charge forever. I loved my Kindle right away, and then I left it on an airplane and it was gone.

So I bought a new one. Which I love almost as much — with no parental blessing, it’s slightly lesser-than. And now, here comes along a great deal and I’m tempted to replace it all over again what isn’t (yet) lost.

Hugh-n-Crye-gear-patrol-full-leadHugh and Crye

Save 20% on Custom Shirts and Blazers From Hugh & Crye
One of the toughest (or near impossible) tasks one can embark on is buying a shirt or a blazer for someone else and have it fit them properly, no tailoring needed. But, for you last minutes shoppers, Hugh & Crye makes that mission a little bit easier and could make you look like a hero in the process. Instead of trying to eye up your friend’s or family member’s exact size and hope every aspect of the shirt or jacket — sleeve length, waist fit, chest fit — sit right too, Hughe & Crye does sizing by height and build. It may seem like a broad stroke approach to sizing but ends up with a better overall fit and finish. And, today you can save 20% on select sale items, including those usually hard to size shirts and blazers.

MTn-Hardwear-Sleeping-Bags-gear-patrol-full-leadMHW

Expedition-Worthy Sleeping Bags From Mountain Hardwear Are 25% Off
Winter is prime camping season for none but the committed, and new camping gear is low on lists of shopping priorities. But it it’s not cold everywhere, and a fresh new sleeping bag won’t gather much dust before summer rolls around. It’s a great time to upgrade, especially so when a well-respected brand such as Mountain Hardwear offers 25% off an extensive collection of bags. The sale includes sleeping bags for all camping needs; with insulation from the high-performance synthetic called Lamina to water-resistant Q.Shield DOWN. And if you are thinking of going camping this winter, Mountain Hardwear’s collection of bags range all the way down to -40 degrees. Here are three standouts, but there are plenty more up for grabs.
