Today in Gear: June 23, 2017

A Taylor Stitch western shirt, a $4,000 marble MacBook Pro stand, the new Lincoln Navigator L and much more.

Good morning. You spent a lot of social capital on that profile pic — that epic photo of you “blowing over” the Leaning Tower of Pisa has gained you maybe 40 new friends (!) since last summer (!!) and a solidified personal brand but lost you a great deal of dignity. (Turns out neither Italians nor other tourists in Italy enjoy being aggressively shooed away so your wife can “get a clear shot.”) The last thing you want is for your hard-earned pic to be stolen by some stranger and used for…whatever. Well, you might be in luck: The Verge is reporting that Facebook is rolling out protections (only in India — so far) that will crack down on the copying and sharing of your most prized pic.

• Here’s yesterday’s gear news, in case you missed out.

• This Friday, instead of broadcasting live from the office, we’ll be at NYC’s Hill Country Barbecue Market to show off some ‘cue and the latest issue of the Gear Patrol Magazine. Join us on Facebook at 12 p.m. EST.

Today’s Gear

What’s New, Now

Gessato Laundry Punch Bag

TIg-gear-patrol-laundry

Take out your animosity toward doing laundry in the only healthy way available: by punching…your laundry.

Taylor Stitch Washed Indigo Western Shirt

TIg-gear-patrol-taylor-stitch

Modeled after Steve McQueen’s near-mythical personal style, Taylor Stitch’s Western Shirt is big on small details, like slant pockets, a single point in the back and antique brass pearl snaps.

De Dolomieu Marble 13-Inch MacBook Pro Stand

TIg-gear-patrol-De-Dolomieu-Marble

The best way to show off your shiny, new, outrageously capable Apple product is to display it on a beautiful rock that costs twice as much.

Terrain Marshmallow Twig Roaster

Thoughts from our team: “Okay, so…I like that.” “Multiple double prongs are key.” “Square marshmallows make a lot more sense.”

Panerai Luminor Submersible Automatic Acciaio

TIg-gear-patrol-Panerai

Just like its corporate cousin IWC, Panerai is one of the few high-end watchmakers embracing e-commerce. And with that comes the opportunity to produce this new special edition. It’s more or less the same as the standard Luminor Submersible (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but has a blue dial instead of a black one. It’s limited to only 100 pieces and, of course, is only available to order online.

Lincoln Navigator L

TIg-gear-patrol-Lincoln

Lincoln’s full-size SUV is a legend in its own right — perhaps the paragon of upper-class-yet-restrained luxury, at least on a large physical scale. The new L extends that paragon another whole foot, making this new Navigator about 12 inches less restrained.

Royal North Company Dog Leash

TIg-gear-patrol-royal-north-lease

From the Gear Patrol Store: If you love your dog, you’ll get them a leash whose maker refers to it as a “lead.” Especially if that “lead” is handmade from water buffalo leather and solid brass.
